I.         INTRODUCTION TO GUESTS

Family and friends, we are gathered here today to celebrate the drawing together of two lives. We have come to consecrate the union of this man, Tim, and this woman, Tori in marriage. This commitment is not to be entered into lightly, but with mutual respect, a sense of reverence, and timelessness. With this commitment to love each other, to work toward creating an atmosphere of care, consideration, and respect, and by a willingness to face the tensions and anxieties that underlie human life, you can make your wedded life come alive.

II.       READINGS

Tim and Tori, this wedding ceremony is, by your intent, both a celebration of your love for each other and an exchange of commitments to each other. You two are a good pairing and complement each other. Your enjoyment of life together is more than it is when you are apart. With the love you have for each other, everything is possible. Consequently, you think you should be married. All of us here today agree. We like the idea of you two being together! Love and commitment are a good pairing, as well. They also complement each other.  They mean more together than they do apart. There is a secret to an enduring, timeless relationship. The key lies in love, reinforced with commitment. May the love we celebrate today and the commitment you share endure testing and enrich with age. May you grow old together.

III.      COMMITMENT TO WED

Tim, the woman who stands by your side is about to become your wife. She will look to you for gentleness, for support, for understanding, for encouragement, and for protection.  You must never take Tori for granted, but be continually sensitive to her needs. Your life and love will be Tori’s greatest source of joy. So I ask you, Tim, will you have Tori to he your wife? Will you love her and cherish her? Will you be loyal to her, and true? Will you honor her all her days, and be respectful of her? And will you promise to always bestow upon her your heart’s deepest devotion?

           Tim: I will.

Tori, the man who stands by your side is about to become your husband. He will look to you for gentleness, for support, for understanding, for encouragement, and for protection. You must never take Tim for granted, but be continually sensitive to his needs. Your life and love will be Tim’s greatest source of joy. So I ask you, Tori, will you have Tim to be your husband? Will you love him and cherish him? Will you be loyal to him, and true? Will you honor him all his days, and be respectful of him? And will you promise to always bestow upon him your heart’s deepest devotion?

           Tori: I will.

IV.       VOWS

With these intentions offered, please take one another’s hand, and Tim, repeat after me:

I, Tim, take you, Tori, to be my wife, my friend, my love, and my lifelong companion.

To share my life with yours, to build our dreams together, to support you through times of trouble, and rejoice with you in times of happiness, to treat you with respect, love, and loyalty through all the trials and triumphs of our lives together.

And to give you, Tori, all the love I can give my whole life long.  This commitment is made in love, kept in faith, and eternally made new.

Tori, please repeat after me:

(Tori) with this ring I thee wed.

(Tim) with this ring I thee wed.
